About the Owner
My name is Lou Kaelin and I’m the owner and Trainer of Kaelin Dog Training “KDT” LLC. I was a Corrections Officer for 25 years and retired at the rank of Sergeant and K9 Unit supervisor as well as a member of the department’s Emergency Tactical Unit and Special Operations Group.
During my career, I was a K9 handler for 16 years training and working three certified police dogs.
Additionally, I received my police canine trainers certification through the New Jersey Department of Corrections for scent detection. While working with police dogs, I had the opportunity to certify all three of my police dogs with the United States Police Canine Association and participate in police dog competitions, winning awards at the Regional and National level including the 2021 United States Police Canine Association National Detector Top Dog. As well as the top department team in the nation for narcotics detection.
